The composition of the air film seal is the same as that of the ordinary contact type mechanical seal. The main difference is that the former uses the hydrodynamic pressure spiral groove opened on the end face, and the hydrodynamic and static pressure effects generated in the rotating state make the two ends of the seal. The stable thin gas film is separated and operated in a non-contact state. The working principle (see Figure 3-4) is that when the moving ring rotates, the sealed gas is sucked into the spiral groove in the circumferential direction, from the outer diameter to the center, the radial component flows toward the sealing channel, and the sealing weir prevents the gas from flowing to the center, so that the gas It is compressed to increase the pressure, and the sealing end face gap is dynamically stabilized and a gas film with a certain thickness is formed. The balance gap (film thickness) of the mechanical seal end face is generally between 2-103.jpg. In this way, the gap of the end face can control the balance between the interface opening force Fo and the external closing force Fc, so that the air film has good elasticity (high rigidity of the air film), forming a stable operation and preventing the sealing end faces from contacting each other.
