The Silicon Carbide Stationary Seat is made from a hard material that offers excellent chemical and abrasion resistance. This material is also very strong, making it an excellent choice for sealing high-temperature liquids. Depending on the application, the material may be either cup-mounted or O-Ring-mounted.
The silicon carbide stationary seat can withstand up to 600 psi of pressure. Its hard surface is ideal for abrasive applications, as it minimizes the energy required to turn and run the pump. In addition, the stationary seat is designed to be press-fitted into the rotating ring so that it can compensate for the spring effect.
Silicon Carbide Stationary Seats come in two main grades, Alpha Sintered and Reaction-Bonded. Alpha Sintered Silicon Carbide is used for chemical applications, while Reaction-Bonded Silicon Carbide is preferred for most other applications. Alpha Sintered Silicon Carbide offers the best lubrication properties but sacrifices pressure-velocity ratios due to the lack of unreacted free carbon. However, both grades of Silicon Carbide can be re-lapped and reused.
Silicon carbide is a non-metallic compound. It has a low coefficient of friction and a longer lifespan than tungsten carbide. It is also more resistant to heat and wear. However, it is less corrosion resistant. It is also less expensive than tungsten carbide.
Silicon carbide has good corrosion resistance, high hardness, excellent thermal conductivity properties and resistance to temperature flucturation. It can be used wildly in chemical industry, shipping, automobile and other fields. Leap industry provide both the reaction sintered silicon carbide and press-less sintered silicon carbide, all the rings which outer diameter from 8mm to 400mm is doable.
